Web

The web has moved through many stages of development in a small number of years. Initial uses were 'Brochure sites' - essentially printed documents moved to an online format, with the facility to include multimedia and click on links to navigate. Subsequently, many sites moved to 'Web Applications' in which a program on a server generates web content dynamically. This permits linking to data sources, personalisation of the experience and many more things. Applications include shopping sites, price comparisons, online Banking and many more. More recently, the phrase 'Web 2.0' has been coined to refer to a space of applications where users are empowered to interact with, customise and change the content of sites - particularly with Social Networking applications.

LTS staff have delivered Internet-based software since the early 1980s. They have delivered web sites and specifically web applications since the origins of the web. We are constantly tracking the latest technological and market developments, and can also deliver the latest ideas in 'Web 2.0' solutions.

As well as technical expertise, we are fully conversant with legal aspects of the web and will ensure compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and European Distance Selling Legislation.

Web 2.0

As mentioned earlier, 'Web 2.0' is not a real, coherent entity in the way that 'HTML 4.0' is. The term is more of a buzzword capturing a nebulous range of technologies and innovations. Nevertheless it is important because it captures the idea of a new generation web in which everyone can participate. We constantly track developments with 'Web 2.0' approaches - technological, market development and social. We can develop applications in this area and are always looking at ways that these technologies can provide novel, effective solutions for organisations.
